Words of compassion to end the year

Dear colleagues, clients and partners,

If there is just one thing you take away from my message at the end of this year, it’s this: show compassion to others who are working hard, dealing with worries and living through challenging times. Show yourselves some compassion as well—this has been an arduous journey, full of highs and lows, setbacks and hope.

If the first year of the pandemic was all about confinement and adaptation, the second was a marathon. In the thick of it, we all felt like a runner watching the finish line get further away with each stride. The uncertainty and lack of resources affected every area and the entire planet. Hours are longer, everyone is depleted. But, every day, I see it, we still show up and we find the tools and the people that support us and help us to go on.

To our partners and clients, thank you for entrusting us with your important, sometimes lengthy and complex, files. Bill 96 is worrisome and raises many issues. We are doing everything we can to respond, to support you and find logical and reasonable solutions as permitted by the Charter for the good of our organizations and the Quebec economy. For all of us, I wish for the rigid application of the Charter of the French Language to give way to a better understanding of the issues and an openness that will allow for true collaboration.

To our team, I am very proud and appreciative of the sustained efforts each of you has shown in supporting our clients. The nature of what we do requires special effort to listen, guide and reassure, which you do with dedication each day. I see your resilience; I admire your determination. Bravo and thank you for always being by my side.

As this year draws to a close, let’s recognize the superhuman effort that has been asked of us all. I hope that we can all take a pause and reconnect with what really matters: family, close friends, love and serenity.

To express our gratitude and compassion, we continue our community engagement by giving to foundations that do exceptional work. Once again, we are making a donation to the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. What’s more, this year, we have chosen to donate to St-Jude Children’s Research, Hébergement la passerelle, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence, the SPCA Montérégie-Rive Sud and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Thank you to all the compassionate people who work at and donate to these organizations.
